Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has disclosed that Kobbie Mainoo is set for a return to action after recovering from an injury that has kept him out since the start of the season.
The English-born Ghanaian teen suffered a knock during pre-season in the friendly against Real Madrid in the United States.
Mainoo impressed during preparations and was set for a big campaign before the setback.
His return to training has given ten Hag and fans of the club a huge boost as the English Premier League returns following the international break.
"He is close," said ten Hag ahead of the game against Sheffield United, as quoted by manutd.com.
"He is already training with us. Not today but I think, next week, he will have some minutes in the team. So then he can catch up his game minutes. So he is really improving and ready to get back in the squad for games."
Mainoo was handed his first team debut last season in the Carabao Cup game against Charlton Athletic, going on to make two further appearances for the Red Devils.
United travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday for the game against Sheffield United, as reported by the BBC.
Mainoo walks off after injury against Real Madrid
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that youngster Kobbie Mainoo was forced off in the opening minutes of the pre-season matchup against Real Madrid with an ankle injury.
The 18-year-old midfielder’s night ended prematurely after opposition winger, Rodrygo, fell onto him following a tackle by United's Casemiro.

Ghanaian teen Kobbie Mainoo makes Man Utd debut
Sports Brief also reported English-born Ghanaian, Kobbie Mainoo has finally made his Manchester United debut in the EFL Cup against Charlton Athletic.
The 18-year-old Academy product started as the Red Devils defeated Charlton to progress to the semi-finals of the Cup competition.
Mainoo lasted an hour of the game before he was replaced by Casimero as the Red Devils triumphed 3-0 at Old Trafford.
