  • Victor Osimhen’s Napoli future remains a hot topic of speculation
  • The Nigerian has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League
  • Liverpool are among the clubs tipped to make a move for the striker

Victor Osimhen has been linked with Premier League giants Liverpool as the Reds have reportedly reached an agreement with the Napoli striker.

Osimhen, who helped fire Napoli to the Scudetto last season with his 26 goals in 32 games, has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

His contract at the Naples expires in 2025, and there are no indications that he will pen a new deal. Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis recently admitted talks over a new contract had stalled.

"I have never not been calm when it comes to Osimhen, but it takes two to tango," he said.
"I remain the same, if his mood has changed, then there's not much I can do about that. If after a handshake things change, that is disappointing, we take it into account, but life goes on. We have a good rapport with him, the contract runs to 2025, so there is time.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool recently sent out scouts to watch the Nigerian during the latest international break.

Liverpool are said to have had long-term interest in Osimhen, and the Napoli President’s latest comments will likely have put the Merseyside club on high alert.

Will Osimhen move to the Premier League?

Arsenal and Chelsea are the other clubs that have been linked with Osimhen, although according to Italian journalist Valter De Maggio (via Sport Witness), Liverpool have already agreed personal terms with the superstar.

"The parties had reached an agreement for the renewal, but then Calenda and Osimhen went back on their word. What happened? There was the inclusion of another club, from the Premier League. I’m talking about Liverpool," he said.

The Reds are exploring attacking options in the event they lose their star man Mohamed Salah, who was heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Arabia pro league.

Okocha on why Osimhen should have moved to Saudi Arabia

Sports Brief also reported on why Jay Jay Okocha’s take on Victor Osimhen’s current situation at Napoli amid interest from the Middle East.

The Napoli striker was offered a huge sum of money to move to the Middle Eastern Nation in the last summer transfer window but turned it down to stay in Italy.

In a recent interview as per Soccernet, Okocha admitted that Osimhen was within his rights to make the decision, but claimed he should have accepted it because of the huge some of money attached to the deal.
