- Parker was seriously injured in the Carling Knockout Cup game vs. Sundowns
- The TS Galaxy boss is not happy with Bongani Zungu's reaction to his red card
TS Galaxy boss, Tim Sukazi has given an update on the career-threatening injury Bernard Parker suffered against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup.
Parker sustained the horrific injury in the 58th minute of the game after a brutal challenge by the Brazilians' Bongani Zungu.
Despite their veteran being rushed to hospital during the game, TS Galaxy went on to win the tie after extra time and a penalty shootout.
In a recent interview with Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000, per iDiskiTimes, Sukazi confirmed Parker would require surgery and explained the extent of his injury.
"As I’m speaking to you, he’s undergoing surgery. It is a leg break, both the tibia and fibula," he said.
The Rockets' chief also sang his veteran's praises:
"Bernard is a gentleman of the game, he’s an amazing guy, to be honest. I have worked with him a year-and-a-half. I knew exactly that this club could go very far, working with a Bernard Parker."
The TS Galaxy boss also stated he was not happy with the way the Sundowns player reacted after being sent off for the horrific tackle.
Asked if Zungu had apologised for the incident, Sukazi replied:
"Not yet so far as I’m aware and to the best of my knowledge. Personally, I was disappointed by Bongani’s reaction, especially seeing him standing there, looking at the leg of Bernard and still reacting in the manner he did."
