Black Stars defender, Alexander Djiku has spoken on the role of former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah, in his move to Turkish giants, Fenerbache.
The 29-year-old joined the Super Lig side in the summer transfer window after ending his stay in the French Ligue 1 with Strasbourg.
Appiah is revered in Turkey following his time with Fenerbache between 2005 and 2008, where he helped the club win the 2006 league title.
According to Djiku, he spoke to the 42-year-old before deciding to sign for Fenerbache.
"I had the opportunity to talk to Appiah. He gave me advice. He is a legendary player," Djiku told Tivibu Spor, as quoted by kickgh.com.
The French-born Ghanaian is enjoying a blistering start to life in Turkey, helping the club to eight straight wins in the league. Djiku has played in all eight matches and scored a goal.
Fenerbache are also yet to lose or draw a game across all competitions, with a record of 16 victories so far.
"I had an injury, but I think I will be ready for the match. We made it 16 out of 16, but every match in this league is difficult, every team does their best. Hatay is one of the undefeated teams. We want to continue the series by showing our own game. It will be a difficult match," he added ahead of Saturday's game against Hatayspor.
Djiku failed to travel with the Black Stars team to the United States for the international friendlies against Mexico and the USA due to a knock, as reported by the official website of the GFA.

FootballHowever, he recovered in time and will be available for selection against Hatayspor.
Djiku scores first Fenerbache goal
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian defender, Alexander Djiku netted a volley to register his debut goal for Turkish giants Fenerbache, in a thumping victory over Istanbul Basaksehir.
Djiku, who joined Fenerbache from Strasbourg in the summer transfer window, has been a key player for the league leaders, scoring to maintain their hundred percent start to the Super Lig.
The French-born player ensured the hosts kept another clean sheet in the 4-0 thrashing of Bsaksehir.
