  • Charles Taylor has urged Chris Hughton to recall Andre Ayew and Mubarak Wakaso
  • The Black Stars are currently preparing ahead of next month's World Cup qualifiers
  • Ghana lost to Mexico and the United States in their last two international friendlies

Former Black Stars midfielder, Charles Asampong Taylor has called for the 'urgent' return of Andre Ayew and Mubarak Wakaso to the national team ahead of next month's World Cup qualifiers.

Ayew was dropped from the Black Stars team for the international friendlies against Mexico and the United States while Wakaso has not received a call-up since the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The frailties of the four-time African champions were clearly exposed during the two friendlies this month, which saw a 2-0 defeat to El Tri and a 4-0 mauling against the Stars and Stripes.

According to Taylor, who played for Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League, the experience of Ayew and Wakaso will be needed for the qualifiers and AFCON next year.

"Andre Ayew should always be part of the Black Stars whether he has a club or not and we need Wakaso back in the team urgently," Taylor told Angel TV, as quoted by ghanasoccernet.com.

The Black Stars will face Madagascar and the Comoro Islands in the first two games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November.

Ghana will also face Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique in the Nations Cup, as reported by myjoyonline.com.

USA thump Black Stars in friendly

Sports Brief previously reported on the USA humiliating Ghana with their first-half performance at GEODIS Park in Nashville, Tennessee.

A double from Giovanni Reyna and strikes from Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun left the Black Stars in shreds after just 40 minutes.

Despite making changes in the second half, Ghana could not find a way back as they suffered a second friendly game defeat in America.

Weah leaves Ghana defender lost with skills

Sports Brief also reported on Juventus winger, Timothy Weah thrilling fans at GEODIS Park with a brilliant display of skill during the USA versus Ghana friendly.

The son of Liberian president, George Weah, played a pivotal role as the Yanks strolled to a win over the Black Stars in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Timothy won a penalty for his country, which was converted by AC Milan newcomer, Christian Pulisic, before lending an assist for Folarin Balugon to also score.
