According to talkSPORT, Messi was in action during the tie and proved once again the star as he netted a brace to help his side silence Peru 2-0.

However, the game had to be stopped momentarily after a young fan invaded the pitch in a bid to get a selfie with the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Spotting a No.10 Argentina shirt with Messi's name on the back, the youngster debuted incredible evasive skills to drift in between two security guards as he sprinted towards his hero.

A video capturing the incident and shared online showed the young fan outpacing one guard with ease before dodging another.

He went on to drop a shoulder and leave both of them on the floor amid wild cheers from the crowd at the Estadio Nacional de Lima.

The young boy pulled out the phone from his pocket after getting to Messi to take a selfie before the guards caught up with him.

His actions sparked reactions from fans, with some hailing him for his skill to meet his hero.

Messi reportedly set to win Ballon d'Or

Sports Brief also reported that Messi could win his eighth Ballon d'Or later this month after the male and female award winners for 2023 were 'leaked'.
