Lionel Messi is receiving praise from fans on social media after he was spotted in the stands watching Inter Miami draw 2-2 against Charlotte FC despite playing for Argentina hours prior.
Messi played two games for Argentina during the international break, including 90 minutes against Peru, his first start since the 1-0 victory over Ecuador in September.
He scored twice against Peru to give his country victory and help them maintain their perfect start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, with four wins out of four.
Fans react to Messi watching Inter Miami
As seen in a video recirculated on social media by Inter Miami FC Hub, the Argentine was in the stands at the DRV PNK Stadium to watch his team hours after playing in Peru.
According to Travel Math, the trip is 4,197 kilometres long and has a flight time of five hours and 43 minutes on average for a commercial airliner from Lima, Peru, to Miami, Florida.
The gesture was praised by fans who applauded his love for the club.

As seen in a video shared by journalist Jose Armando, he was the last to leave the stadium after the game ended. Head coach Tata Martino confirmed he would be assessed to see if he can play on Saturday.
