- The latest images of Robertson suggest he will not be fit enough by Saturday, October 21
Liverpool fans' fears regarding Andy Robertson appear to have been confirmed as the left-back was spotted wearing a sling ahead of the Merseyside derby.
Robertson collided with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon while on international duty with Scotland last Thursday as his nation suffered a 2-0 defeat.
He has since returned to Liverpool to be assessed by the club’s medical staff, and is expected to be out for the foreseeable future.
According to The Mirror, Scotland boss Steve Clarke remains unsure if Robertson will be available for his country for the Euro 2024 qualifiers in November.
"As always with injured players, we send them back to their club; Andy's gone back to Liverpool," Clarke said when asked about Robertson.
"Liverpool will deal with his injury. Obviously, it's a shoulder issue and Liverpool will deal with it. If he's fit for next month, it's great. If he's not fit for next month then hopefully he'll be fit as soon as possible for his club."
Robertson’s sling and other Liverpool woes
On Wednesday, October 18, photos emerged of Robertson with a protective sling on his right arm. Despite the setback, the left-back still managed to make it to Greggs in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
While no return date has been issued, Robertson will likely miss the next couple of matches for Liverpool, and Klopp will have to look at Kostas Tsimikas or Joe Gomez to fill in the gap at left-back.
Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp will also be sweating over the fitness of Cody Gakpo, who is recovering from a knee injury after he collided with Tottenham Hotsput’s Destiny Udogie. Gakpo is expected to be back by Saturday.
