According to Sports Illustrated, Kane's double on the night propelled him past Sir Bobby Charlton, making him the all-time leading goal scorer for the England men's team at Wembley, with an impressive total of 24 goals at the national stadium.

The brace from the 30-year-old England forward further saw him join an illustrious international goal club which features Cristian Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and a list of other stars.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker, who brought to an end his barren run in home fixtures at Wembley Stadium, became the 28th player in history to surpass the 60-goal mark in his international career.

With a tally of 61 goals in 87 appearances, Kane also joined the ranks of active players to achieve this remarkable milestone, placing him among the elite in the football world, as reported by ESPN.

The list of male football players with over 60 international career goals is headed by Portugal's evergreen Cristiano Ronaldo, who continues to dazzle with 127 international goals. His long-standing rival, Lionel Messi, is closely behind, with an impressive total of 106 international goals.

Bellingham, Kane inspire Euro 2024 qualification

Securing their spot at Euro 2024, England orchestrated a remarkable comeback, spurred on by Kane's two-goal performance, ultimately triumphing over reigning champions Italy 3-1 at Wembley, Sports Brief reported.

Initially conceding an early goal from Gianluca Scamacca, Gareth Southgate's team displayed resilience, buoyed by an outstanding performance from Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, which led to the equalizer before halftime courtesy of Kane's successful penalty.

Initiating the spot-kick with his characteristic dynamic run, Bellingham, at the age of 20, proved to be the driving force behind Marcus Rashford's crucial goal in the second half.
