Former Arsenal and Cameroon midfielder, Alexander Song has disclosed that he joined Barcelona for money.
Song decided to leave the English giants at the peak of his career to sign for the Catalan club despite not being assured of regular playing time.
According to the 36-year-old, the opportunity to become a millionaire was all he was thinking of and he did not care about game time.
“When Barcelona offered me a contract, and I saw how much I would earn, I didn’t think twice,” he told Toronto Raptors basketball star Pascal Siakam on Instagram, as quoted by squawka.com.
“I felt my wife and children should have comfortable lives once my career is over.
