Sir Alex Ferguson had the honour and privilege of managing some of the best footballers in the world at Manchester United.
The Scotsman spent 26 years at the helm of affairs at Old Trafford, winning multiple titles and honours with the help of different sets of players.
According to Goal, the legendary boss won an impressive 13 Premier League titles during the period, while also notching up five FA Cups and two Champions League trophies.
While the famous class of 1992 is known to have produced a string of players who went on to cement their places as United legends, Fergie did splash some money to recruit from elsewhere.
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney, and Robin van Persie all came from elsewhere before they linked up with the boss at the Theatre of Dreams.
Irwin has special place in Fergie's career
Back in 2013, Ferguson was asked to name his best-ever United starting XI but was at pain to single out a set of 11 players for the honour.
"People ask you: ‘Who is your best Man United team?’ and it’s absolutely impossible," he told the Sunday World, per Sportbible.
However, in his autobiography, the Scotsman inadvertently revealed that only Dennis Irwin would be guaranteed a starting place in the team.
"Honestly, I would say Denis Irwin would be the one certainty to get in the team. I called him an eight out of 10," Fergie wrote in his biography.
"Well, one mistake in 10 years isn‘t bad. He was an unbelievable player," he continued.
