At the time, Sky Sports reported that Liverpool had one of their goals in the first half incorrectly disallowed and ruled to be offside.

Luis Dias thought he had handed the visitors the lead, only for his goal to be chalked off by on-field officials despite replays showing he was onside.

The VAR controversy saw both Cook and England stood down for their role in the fiasco and not selected for Premier League fixtures before the international break.

England, Cook set for EPL action

However, the two are set to return to action this weekend and are set for refereeing roles in the Premier League.

According to The Mirror, the Premier League have confirmed both will return, with England named as the fourth official for Brentford's clash against Burnley.

Cook, meanwhile, will be Michael Oliver's assistant when Man United take on Sheffield United.

The Red Devils will be hoping to record a positive result in their bid to get their season back on track after a disappointing start to the new campaign.

Erik ten Hag's charges currently sit 10th in the Premier League standings.

Salah makes feelings on Diaz goal clear

Sports Brief also previously reported on Mohamed Salah’s reaction to the 'injustice' Liverpool suffered as he liked his first tweet in six years.

On X (formerly Twitter), he was not afraid of ruffling feathers as he 'liked' a tweet that suggested the decision of the VAR official was a poor one.
