Manchester United striker, Rasmus Hojlund has come out to claim he was 'maliciously' targeted by San Marino players on Tuesday, October 17.

He was in the starting XI for Denmark on Tuesday evening and gave his side the lead before half-time with a fierce strike that found the roof of the net.

San Marino then equalised through Alessandro Golinucci, who scored his nation’s first competitive goal in two years, with Yussuf Poulsen restoring the Danish lead 10 minutes later.

The win, which helped Denmark remain second in Group H in the Euro qualifiers, was overshadowed by a daunting claim by Hojlund, who claims San Marino players were out to hurt him.

As reported by Express Sport, the Dane's claims are backed somewhat by footage of the game which isolates one incident where he was struck in the lower back by an opposition player.

Hojlund told reporters, as cited by Manchester Evening news:

"I feel they targeted me, as you can see at the end. I understand Italian and I could hear them saying that they had the idea to crush me."

Hojlund’s social media rant

Hours after the game, Hojlund took to his Instagram stories to further his rant against San Marino players.

"We do so much every day to be the best version of yourself and keep fit for so many games. This behaviour from San Marino last night, trying to injure me was unacceptable!"

In the wake of the accusations, defender Alessandro Tosi has denied the claims. However, he admitted the San Marino players were incensed by Hojlund’s celebrations.

Man United travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday, October 21, and Hojlund will likely face a late fitness test before getting back into the squad.

Notably, he missed the Red Devils' first three games of the season through injury.

Neymar sustains serious injury

Still on the injury front, Sports Brief also reported on Neymar Junior's latest woes as the Brazilian went down hurt while representing his country.

The forward only lasted 45 minutes in Brazil's game against Uruguay in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.

Towards the end of the first half, Neymar went down holding his left knee after landing awkwardly under minimal pressure from Nicolas de la Cruz.
