Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has replied to his critics despite his errors during the October friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

Nigeria continued their preparation for the World Cup qualifiers and AFCON 2023 tournament with two friendlies at the Estadio Municipal De Portimao in Portugal.

Uzoho made a howler in the 60th minute of the tie against the Green Falcons of Saudi when he parried the ball into his own net.

Nigeria equalised courtesy of an own goal before Kelechi Iheanacho put the side aid ahead, but the Arabians equalised from a freekick with the last kick of the game, with Uzoho hapless in goal.

Uzoho looked vulnerable as he also conceded two goals against Mozambique, with Nigerians questioning his competence in between the sticks.

Many urged the head coach, Jose Peseiro, to consider other goalkeepers apart from the Omonoia FC shot-stopper.

Recall that he was also in goal during Nigeria’s crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier as he mistimed Thomas Partey’s effort as the Black Stars progressed to Qatar, ThisDay reported.

After being criticised, Uzoho fired back:

“If e easy do am, make oyinbo man sign you.”

Peter Ijeh cautions Super Eagles

Meanwhile, despite managing a win over a ten-man Mozambican side, former Nigerian international, Peter Ijeh has stated that lots of modifications must be made to the Super Eagles.

Ijeh, who had five caps for the Nigerian senior national team, suggested that the goalkeeper needs composure and confidence.

“Giving the goalkeeper another chance, I believe, is to build up his composure and confidence, but yet, the defence isn’t solid enough to protect the goalie.”

Osimhen confirmed injured

Sports Brief also reported that Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen suffered a medium-grade lesion of the biceps femoris and could be out for some weeks.

The striker was forced out in the 56th minute during Nigeria’s friendly match with Saudi Arabia on Friday, October 13.

Consequently, he was left out of the squad that played the game against Mozambique as he returned to Naples for further examination.
