Top Ghanaian musician, Kwabena Kwabena says that former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, remains his favourite footballer of all time.

Gyan retired from football in June 2023 after a career spanning almost two decades, in which he led Ghana to three FIFA World Cups.

Kwabena Kwabena, known in real life as George Kwabena Adu, insists that Gyan's career had a huge impact on him as a person and if he had chosen to play football, he would have picked the former Sunderland player as his idol.

"My favourite footballer of all-time in Ghana," he told E Vibes, as quoted by ghanasoccernet.com. "If I was not doing music actively, maybe I would be playing footballer and this chap here would have been my idol," he added.
"Coming from 2006 to the 2010 World Cup and what he did in both tournaments, I will say it is a major milestone which it will take decades for any player to arise and reach such a feat. If we've not sat down to study what he did critically as a people, because of what he did for Ghana in both tournaments. For me, he will forever remain my biggest Ghanaian footballing idol."

Gyan holds the record as Ghana's all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 international appearances, as reported by Transfermarkt.

The ex-Sunderland attacker is also Africa's top scorer at the World Cup, with six goals from three tournaments.

Gyan leads football clinic in USA

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Gyan led a youth clinic session for young footballers at Tampa Bay Rowdies following his visit to the United States.

The 37-year-old was in the US for personal business, but took time off his busy schedule to honour an invite from Tampa Bay Rowdies, as he schooled aspiring footballers on the basics of the game.

Gyan also spent time signing autographs and taking photos with fans who were at the venue to watch the former Ghana captain.

Gyan highlights Kudus' improvements

Gyan praised Mohammed Kudus for the improvements in his game after he netted his debut English Premier League goal for West Ham.

The 23-year-old came off the bench to score a late equalizer as the Hammers shared the spoils with Newcastle United at the London Olympic Stadium.

Gyan was impressed with the performance of the Black Stars midfielder, highlighting the key improvement in his play.
