  • Ronaldo Nazario was a lethal striker for club and country but also had problems off the pitch
  • O Fenonemo developed a reputation for being a party animal during his time at Real Madrid
  • Former Los Blancos manager Fabio Capello grew tired of Ronaldo's antics at the La Liga side

Ronaldo Nazario will always be remembered as a Real Madrid legend, but not everyone had fond memories of him at the club.

Former Los Blancos manager, Fabio Capello wasn’t impressed with O Fenomeno and got rid of the Brazilian during his time in charge of the side.

As noted by Football Espana, Capello revealed that he kicked the Brazilian legend out of the club because of his bad habits. Ronaldo had developed a reputation for his partying ways, while he was also criticised for weight gain over the years.

"In February 2007, I decided to get rid of Ronaldo Nazario. He was someone who liked to party and encouraged the group to go out with him," Capello mentioned.

The former England manager added that a player approached him once to say the locker room smelled of alcohol - and it was the case.

Capello also touched on Ronaldo’s weight issues, saying he asked the Brazilian to lose some kilos because he weighed 94kgs, but he only dropped down to 92.5kgs.

Fenomeno’s issue with weight

Ronaldo was often criticised for his weight issues during his career. In 2020, he joked about it, saying it wasn’t that he didn’t want to lose weight, as Marca reported.

"I didn't refuse to lose weight. I refused to weigh myself," Ronaldo said.

Ronaldo the party animal

The Brazilian legend was a renowned party animal during his days at the club. Former teammates claimed that Ronaldo would have busses of girls show up at his parties.

O Fenomeno admitted that Real Madrid even hired a security team to stop him from partying.

How Real Madrid stopped Ronaldo from partying

The legendary Brazilian forward also previously revealed how he was assigned special security by Real Madrid as they tried to curb his partying.

The three-time World Player of the Year was on the books of Los Blancos for five years, scoring 104 goals in 177 games across all competitions.

However, Ronaldo became infamous for his partying habits and this ultimately scuppered his time in Spain, as Sports Brief previously reported.
