However, a recent report from Spanish outlet Sport has stated several clubs from the Middle Eastern league could be set to let go of a host of their newly acquired stars as early as the next summer window, a report which appears to have put Catalan club Barcelona on high alert.
Barcelona attentive to Saudi Pro League stars
The report highlights that there could be a lot of movement in the Saudi market next summer due to several reasons, including the high salary contract numerous players are on and the underperformance of a couple of signings, which came in with high expectations.
The outlet finally highlights that Saudi clubs could be willing to part ways with these underperforming players even on a loan transfer, a report which has Barcelona on high alert.
It is worth noting that despite Barcelona's financial challenges, the club has completed signings of elite European stars, including Joao Felix and Manchester City's Joao Cancelo.
In the event that the media outlet's report materializes as suggested, Barcelona could be interested in revisiting their pursuit of several players that Saudi League clubs had beaten them to, such as the Portuguese star Ruben Neves, whom Diario AS reports Barcelona has had a longstanding interest in.
