FootballRobert Lewandowski: Barcelona Planning to Offer Veteran Striker New Deal
- Robert Lewandoski is Barcelona's most important player
- The club is looking to offer the 36-year-old striker a one-year deal as he enters the final year of his current contract
- The striker reportedly received offers from the Saudi Pro League in the summer and could attract more offers in the coming months
Barcelona could lose their number one striker, Robert Lewandowski, next summer due to his salary, which increases every year as part of his deal.
The Polish striker signed a three-year deal with an option for a fourth with the club when he joined from Bayern Munich last year. He will turn 36 in August 2024.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, as reported by Football Espana, the club is looking to offer Lewandowski a one-year deal next summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
The report also indicates that the striker will be the highest-paid player at the club next season, and at 36, that is not ideal. That is one of the ways the club is trying to work on fitting salaries into a tight budget, which is exacerbated by their financial woes.
This would, in turn, help them make moves in the transfer market.
The former Bayern Munich striker led Barcelona to their first La Liga title since 2019 with his 23 goals, which won him the Pichichi Trophy.
Lewandowski is always the first name on the team sheet and recently expressed his love for Barcelona amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

According to Barcelona, their veteran striker sustained a left ankle sprain during their 1-0 win over Porto in the Champions League.
Ferran Torres replaced him in the 34th minute during the game. He has scored six goals and provided four assists in his 10 appearances so far this season.
Reports in Spain say the former Bayern Munich striker is expected to miss the first El Clasico of the season on October 28, as Sports Brief earlier reported. Xavi's side are currently faced with an injury crisis, with Pedri, Raphinha, Alejandro Balde, Jules Kounde, and Frenkie De Jong nursing injuries.
