South Africa's national team head coach Hugo Broos has reacted on the rumoured fallout with Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa.

Lepasa was a second-half substitute in South Africa's goalless draw against Eswatini at FNB Stadium on Friday, October 13, but withdrew from the team ahead of the Ivory Coast friendly game.

The Orlando Pirates star has been a regular under the Belgian manager for over 12 months, and he is one of the coach's trusted forwards alongside Lebo Mothiba and Burnley striker Lyle Foster.

There were rumours about Lepasa having a fallout with the former Cameroon boss despite an official statement issued by the national team confirming that it was due to a knee injury.

Ahead of the game against the Elephants, Broos denied all claims that he had a fallout with the Orlando Pirates striker, according to a report by iDiskiTimes.

"I was surprised and a little bit angry when I heard in the media there was a clash between me and [Zakhele] Lepasa, this is a very, very, big lie," he said.

The former Club Brugge manager also clarified that there was an MRI scan to confirm he was injured and claimed the media in South Africa always try to look for negative news.

"But yeah, okay, in South Africa, they always try to look for something negative – so let’s repeat again, there has been no clash between me and [Zakhele] Lepasa," he added.

Bafana Bafana draw against Eswatini

Sports Brief earlier reported that the Bafana Bafana played out a goalless draw against Eswatini at the FNB Stadium on Friday, October 13.

South Africa had the freedom of FNB Stadium at times, dominating possession but spending much of the match hovering around the Eswatini 18-yard box.

Lyle Foster, Khanyisa Mayo, Njabulo Blom and Mihlali Mayembela all had chances but left their shooting boots at home.
