Sadio Mane inspired Senegal to victory in their international friendly against Cameroon after netting the only goal of the game at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

The Al-Nassr star converted from the spot in the first-half to hand the Teranga Lions a morale-boosting win ahead of next month's World Cup qualifiers.

Mane joined his teammates in France after playing a role in the 2023 AFCON draw held in Abidjan last Thursday.

The 31-year-old was named in a strong starting line-up by Aliu Cisse as the African champions begin preparations ahead of the defence of their title.

Having dominated the early exchanges, Senegal were awarded a penalty in the 33rd minute. Mane elected himself for the spot kick, sending Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana the wrong way.

Cameroon with Vincent Aboubakar leading the attack struggled to break the defence of Senegal, as captain Khalidou Koulibaly marshalled a three-back which included Cheikhou Kouyate and Moussa Niakhate.

The AFCON 2021 champions will face South Sudan in the first game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on November 13 in Dakar.

Mane performs local dance with Akon

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Al Nassr star, Sadio Mane joined global music icon Akon in performing a popular Senegalese dance on the stage for the Africa Cup of Nations draw in Abidjan.

Akon, a Senegalese-American singer, was the host of the draw at the Parc Des Expositions in Abidjan on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Mane was part of the players selected to assist in conducting the draw.

Mikel Obi picks between Sadio Mane and Salah

Former Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel has disclosed his favourite between former Liverpool teammates Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The former Chelsea star was joined by reigning African player of the year Mane, for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations draw in Abidjan last Thursday.

Meanwhile, Salah joined his Egypt teammates for the international friendly against Zambia on Thursday. A game they won 1-0, with Hamdy Fathy netting the winner.
