  • The Real Madrid trio will be in action on Wednesday when Uruguay host Brazil in Montevideo
  • Brazil drew 1-1 with Venezuela, while Uruguay also shared the points last time out against Colombia

Federico Valverde will lead Uruguay for their pivotal CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers against Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo's Brazil on Wednesday.

Uruguay will step into the match following a 2-2 draw against Colombia in Barranquilla, while Brazil settled for a 1-1 draw against Venezuela.

Per Sports Mole, Uruguay secured a 3-1 victory over Chile in their campaign debut on September 9. However, Marcelo Bielsa's side faced a defeat on the road against Ecuador and later managed a 2-2 draw against Colombia in their most recent outing.

Brazil, meanwhile, started their qualification campaign with a commanding 5-1 win over Bolivia on September 9. They followed it up with a 1-0 victory against Peru just four days later, propelling them to six points in the standings.

And in the lead-up to the Urguay-Brazil match, Rodrygo shared Valverde's stern message to his Brazilian compatriots.

"He told Vini and me: 'You don't even need to go, stay in Madrid,'" Rodrygo told reporters via Tribuna.

Valverde has assumed the role of captain for Uruguay following the World Cup in Qatar, demonstrating considerable growth since his national team's disappointments in that tournament.

Clearly, the 24-year-old is confident in his team's ability to overcome Brazil on match day.

Pele pays tribute to Neymar

Sports Brief reported on Pele paying tribute to Neymar after he surpassed the late legend's 77 goals to become Brazil's all-time top scorer with his two goals against Bolivia.

Pele's account, managed by his children after his passing away last year, sent a message to the former Barcelona star to commemorate his new milestone.

Neymar pelted with popcorn

Sports Brief also reported on Brazil fans pelting Neymar with popcorn, showing their dissatisfaction with a home draw against Venezuela, a game they were expecting to win.

As the player was making his way into the tunnel, they threw popcorn at him, which angered him, and he had to be pushed away from the scene by his teammates.
