A substantial number of football players have recently expressed their solidarity amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Among these stars are notable figures like Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko, Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois, and Al-Ittihad's Karim Benzema.
Benzema, who left Real Madrid earlier in the summer to join the Saudi Arabian club, used his social media platform recently to voice support for those affected by the conflict in the Gaza Strip, following air strikes by the Israeli military. He posted a message saying:
"All our prayers for the inhabitants of Gaza who are once again victims of these unjust bombings which spare no women or children."
However, this post by the reigning Ballon d'Or winner triggered a fierce response from one of his former on-field rivals.
Dudu Aouate hits out at Benzema
Dudu Aouate, an Israeli goalkeeper who spent 11 years in Spain with Racing Santander, Deportivo La Coruna, and Real Mallorca from 2003 to 2014, replied to the forward's post with an expletive-laden message.
Responding to Benzeme, he wrote, 'You are a big son of a [expletive]' in multiple languages, along with the American and Israeli flags. The post was subsequently flagged by the social media platform for violating rules against abuse.
