FootballReal Madrid’s Forward Rodrygo de Goes' Recent Interview Sparks Backlash From Fans
- Real Madrid forward Rodrygo de Goes recently granted an interview where he touched on several matters
- The Brazilian forward also spoke about his struggle for form and his new role at the club
- Fans of the La Liga club have lashed out at the Brazilian forward following his interview
In spite of Real Madrid's impressive performance at the outset of the 2023/24 season, one cause for concern within the Spanish club has been the subpar form of Brazilian forward Rodrygo de Goes.
The young striker has faced difficulties adapting to the new tactical changes introduced by coach Carlo Ancelotti since the season's commencement.
According to statistics from Whoscored, the 22-year-old has only managed to find the net once in his 11 appearances for Los Blancos this season.
In a recent interview reported by media outlet Relevo, Rodrygo touched on a few topics, including clarifying his preferred position on the pitch:
He stated,
"I always made it clear that I have the ability to play on the wings as well as inside. I always said that I don't like to be a nine, and in the end, both at the club and here, I have to do it quite a few times, but I don't like it very much."
Rodrygo's words seem to have elicited a mixed reaction from the club's supporters, who wasted no time expressing their opinions on the young forward.
Fan Reactions to Rodrygo's Interview:
@banglida1 urged,
"Bro, you have to step up in that position; we need you."
@Dpacificaustin, seemingly uninterested in the forward's complaint, responded,
"You are expected to play any role assigned to you."
@edozilla commented,
"Honestly, Rodrygo appears to be the only one who still can't or doesn't want to adapt. Fede played on the right wing, Cama as a left back, Tchou as a centre back, Vini as a centre forward, and even Jude was never played as a number 10 before."

Football@mattakhide, also unresponsive to Rodrygo's concerns, wrote,
"Well, that settles it then; Joselu should start alongside Vinicius."
@mustyud posted,
"One thing I dislike about these players is them saying they don't like certain positions."
@Idontca88901071 expressed displeasure, saying,
"Well, all the best, Rodrygo 🌟 💫, but be careful because Arda is coming 🔥."
While Rodrygo's ongoing struggles may be attributed to Ancelotti's persistent use of him as a centre forward, the likelihood of Ancelotti changing formations appears to be minimal.
Rodrygo backed to shine again
Sports Brief in a previous report stated Rodrygo is having a tough start to the 2023/24 season for Real Madrid, but the La Liga club is solidly behind the Brazilian forward despite his struggles this campaign.
While Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior are hugging the headlines for their performances this season, the 22-year-old forward has managed just one goal in over 800 minutes for Los Blancos.
According to Football Espana, President Florentino Perez still sees Rodrygo with the potential to become one of the best players in the world and has backed him to find his best form again.
