A former Nigerian international, Peter Ijeh, has commended the Super Eagles following their performance in the friendly clash against Saudi Arabia.

Both teams were inseparable at the end of full time as it ended 2-2, but Ijeh commended the Nigerian attack during the encounter.

The Green Falcons had opened the scoring in the 60th minute after a howler by goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, but an own goal pulled the Africans back in contention.

In the 81st minute, Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho put Nigeria ahead, but Mohamed Kanno had other plans when he fired home a free kick with practically the last kick of the game as both teams shared the spoils, Premium Times reports.

Jose Peseiro had started Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface in the attack, and the Nigerian forwards proved too strong upfront, resulting in a massive 15 shots at goal, while the opponents managed just 2.

Ijeh, who was with the Super Eagles set up in 2002, stated that it is a work in progress, but cautioned the team to be more clinical in front of goal.

He told Sports Brief:

“I take delights at the shots-on-target ratio, which is impressive of the Super Eagles, and more precision in execution can make a huge difference because it’s only goals that will make that difference than possessive play.
“It is a work in progress. More work is needed in that sphere to solidify each department.
“Every player should have a positive flavour they’re bringing to the team according to the team formation, team strategy. Only if the two goals conceded (deflection, and own goal) can be minimized.”

Ndidi unimpressed with Uzoho

Sports Brief earlier reported one of the major highlights of the match was Francis Uzoho's blunder that led to Saudi Arabia's first goal in the game.

Roberto Mancini's men took the lead in the 60th minute after the Super Eagles goalkeeper could not keep out Salman Al-Faraj's freekick.

In a viral video on social media, Nigeria's captain for the night, Wilfred Ndidi, reacted angrily after the former Deportivo shot-stopper fumbled Salman's freekick.
