- The Ecuadorian has explained his journey to the top from his town in Santo Domingo
Moises Caicedo has made a name for himself as a footballer despite emerging from the small town of Santo Domingo in Ecuador, where he played his early football.
Brighton and Hove Albion snapped him up from Independiente del Valle in 2021 for a meagre £4.4million, and in the 2022/23 season, his first and only full season for the club, he was ready for the big step.
Per The Athletic, Chelsea broke the British record transfer fee to sign Caicedo from Brighton. The Blues paid £115mil - £100mil upfront and £15mil in add-ons plus a future sell-on fee for the Albion.
What shaped Caicedo's football journey?
The 21-year-old is one of the best tacklers in the league and boasts a decent passing range. Speaking to the Premier League "Greatness comes from everywhere" campaign, as part of the No Room For Racism initiative, he shared the things that shaped his football.
"It's been a journey filled with tears and pain," he said. "I played football with one of my brothers, and they were all older than me. They were stronger than me. It was tough as they used to play hard so I could be strong from a young age.
"I'm very thankful for that because it's thanks to them I'm here today, making one of my biggest dreams come true."
He recognised the impacts of his parents, who have supported him through his football journey and those he met along the line.
"My parents have always been my heroes as they've accompanied me throughout the journey. They did everything possible for me to become a professional football player, he said.

The player overcame a poor debut in which he conceded a last-minute penalty in the 3-1 loss to West Ham and is gradually becoming an integral player for Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea unveil Caicedo with Afrobeat
Sports Brief reported that Chelsea unveiled Moises Caicedo with a Nigerian song from Pheelz and BNXN titled Finesse, and for those who understand, it passed a message.
The song preaches going all out for what you want, even if it means going broke later, and that is what the Blues did. It also connotes not falling in love with who doesn't want you, in the case of Liverpool agreeing on a fee with Brighton despite Caicedo preferring Chelsea.
