Cristiano Ronaldo keeps blazing the trail with his goals as he hits milestones with his brace against Slovakia that helped Portugal secure Euro 2024 qualification.

Ronaldo stepped up for his country when it mattered the most, as he has done for most of his career. He came clutch with a brace to help down Slovakia 3-2 and maintain the unbeaten run in the qualifiers.

Goncalo Ramos opened the scoring for Portugal, while Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes assisted two of the goals. David Hancko and Stanislav Lobotka got on the scoresheet for the away side.

It's been a while since Ronaldo scored, and no new record or milestone is discussed around it, such were his goals last night, which extended his record of most international goals to 125.

Ronaldo hits new milestone

As per ESPN, the goals were his 699 and 700, excluding penalties, such a massive number for someone nicknamed Penaldo by fans for his penalty conversion.

He also hit 857 career goals for club and country and disclosed his target is to hit 1,000 before hanging his boot as he eyes featuring at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada.

As reported by BBC Sports, if he stays fit and is part of the squad in Germany next year, he will become the first player to feature at six European Championships, having featured in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020.

The 38-year-old took to his Instagram page, where he has over 600 million followers, to celebrate helping the Iberian nation reach another major tournament.
