  • Jose Mourinho was understandably happy to see his former Chelsea players reunite
  • John Obi-Mikel, Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou recently met in Ivory Coast
  • The trio all played under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge across his two spells

Jose Mourinho is always known for his cheeky remarks, irrespective of whether he is happy or angry. He has built his reputation over the years not only as one of the most tactically astute managers but for his comments.

He recently left a hilarious comment on John Obi-Mikel's post. The former Chelsea midfielder took to Instagram to share photos of his reunion with his former teammates Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou.

The trio met in the Ivory Coast, taking time to possibly reminisce on their glory days in West London. Most of their happy moments came under Mourinho, who is arguably Chelsea's greatest-ever manager. Under Mourinho, they won the FA Cup and the Premier League.

The Portuguese manager, seemingly happy to see his boys back together, commented,

"Daddy is missing!!!! You rich guys can enjoy holiday time."

Drogba and Obi-Mikel retired from the game after illustrious careers, while Kalou is still in the books of Djibouti side Arta Solar.

The first two later met at the Parc des Expositions d'Abidjan in Abidjan, where they helped in the conducting of the AFCON 2023 draw. Their nations, Ivory Coast and Nigeria, will face off in Group A next year.

Sadio Mane of Senegal and Achraf Hakimi of Morocco were the other two helped out during the draw.

Mikel confident Nigeria will win AFCON 2023

Sports Brief also reported on former Super Eagles captain and Chelsea legend John Obi-Mikel expressing excitement after the 2023 AFCON draw in Ivory Coast on Thursday.

The Nigerian legend, part of the winning national team that claimed the title in 2013, arrived in Abidjan on Wednesday as one of the special guests at the Parc Des Expositions.

Obi boldly backed Nigeria to win their fourth AFCON title in the West African nation, despite being drawn into one of the more challenging groups, proclaiming the title is 'coming home'.
