Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to wax spiritual prior to scoring from the penalty spot during Portugal's Euro 2024 Qualifiers against Slovakia on Friday, October 13.

Ronaldo confidently dispatched a penalty in the first half before sweeping home from close range later in the second half, taking his tally to an impressive 125 goals in international football.

His two-goal feat, along with Goncalo Ramos' opener, enabled Portugal to stave off a late comeback from the visitors, securing a 3-2 victory and confirming their berth in next summer's European Championship with three games to spare, per MARCA.

While the Al-Nassr star naturally grabbed headlines for his goal-scoring prowess, a circulating clip on the X App (formerly known as Twitter) has captured the attention of many.

Did Ronaldo say "Bismillah"?

In the brief video, the 38-year-old appeared to be reciting a Muslim prayer just before taking the penalty.

Exhaling deeply, he murmured what seemed to be "Bismillah" (in the name of God, the merciful and compassionate) twice. Despite the internal struggle, he skillfully converted from the spot just before the half-hour mark.

Saudi influence on Ronaldo

Ronaldo has often displayed a keen interest in diverse cultures, as evidenced by his participation in various cultural events and traditions worldwide.

And this comes as little surprise owing to Ronaldo's current abode - Saudi Arabia, the home of Islam.

After departing Europe following the 2022 World Cup, the renowned player previously associated with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus has been pursuing his football career in the Middle East.

His public appearances wearing traditional attire and incorporating cultural elements into his goal celebrations have demonstrated his appreciation for different customs and practices.

Ronaldo performs Saudi dance

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Cristiano Ronaldo performed a traditional Saudi dance after bagging a first-half brace for Al-Nassr in their Saudi Pro League clash against Al-Shabab.

His precise execution from the spot prompted Ronaldo to unveil his dancing skills, as the 38-year-old momentarily shelved his signature 'Siuuu' celebration in favour of displaying Saudi culture with his dance moves.
