- Saudi Arabia took the game to the West Africans in what could be branded a cagey affair
The international friendly between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia ended in a 2-2 draw at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao in Portugal on Friday night.
Saudi Arabia took the game to the Super Eagles, who seemed to struggle stringing passes together in most of the encounter.
It was the Green Falcons who opened the scoring in the 60th minute after goalkeeper Francis Uzoho failed to deal with a freekick by Salman Al-Faraj.
Thirteen minutes later, Moses Simon's effort was tucked home by Abdulelah Al-Amri, whose own goal put the West Africans back in contention.
In the 81st minute, Nigeria went ahead following a fine strike by Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho as he found the back of the net from outside the area.
And in the 90th minute, the match referee added nine minutes of injury time, but the Eagles failed to contain their opponents.
In what could practically be the last kick of the game, Mohammed Kanno scored from a freekick to draw the Green Falcons level. It ended Nigeria 2-2 Saudi Arabia, Vavel reports.
The Super Eagles will play Mozambique in another international friendly at the same venue on Monday, October 16.
The friendlies are in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which start in November.
