Robert Lewandowski watched Poland beat Faroe Islands in the Euro 2024 qualifiers from the comfort of his home since he was unable to participate due to injury.

Poland took the lead in the 4th minute through Sebastian Szymanski and dominated the first half. However, they couldn't score a second one until the second half.

In the 65th minute, Adam Buksa added a second to seal the victory against the minnows, ranked 131st in the latest FIFA rankings.

The win leaves Poland second in Group E of the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers with 9 points from six games. Albania leads the group with 13 points.

Lewandowski posted a photo on his Instagram of himself watching Poland bounce back after a surprise 2-0 defeat to Albania last time out. The post got a million likes.

Lewandowski injury update

According to Barcelona, their veteran striker sustained a left ankle sprain during their 1-0 win over Porto in the Champions League.

He was replaced by Ferran Torres in the 34th minute during the game. He has scored six goals and provided four assists in his 10 appearances so far this season.

Reports in Spain say the former Bayern Munich striker is expected to miss the first El Clasico of the season on October 28. Xavi's side are currently faced with an injury crisis with Pedri, Raphinha, Alejandro Balde, Jules Kounde and Frenkie De Jong nursing injuries.

Sports Brief also reported on Lewandowski responding to rumours linking him with the Saudi Pro League.

The Polish international commented on his happiness at Barcelona and said he had not thought of switching to the Middle Eastern country.

Lewandowski, who has begun to regain his goal-scoring form, won the Pichichi Trophy last season by scoring 23 goals for the Catalans.
