  • Mauricio Pochettino is gradually getting a hold of Chelsea's squad after a slow start
  • The Argentine boss is working hands-on with players who didn't travel on international duty
  • Pochettino beat goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with a screamer in training

Mauricio Pochettino still got it, and the Chelsea boss proved it with a classy goal in training with players who were not called up for international duty.

Chelsea won three games on the spin against Brighton, Fulham and Burnley before the October break called, but work did not stop at the training complex at Cobham.

Pochettino is saddled with overseeing a £1 billion squad after the club spent heavily since the Todd Boehly-led consortium took over.

A slow start to the season had fans criticising the team, but with 12 injuries per Playmaker Stats, the manager believes his team will get better when they have key players fit.

Pochettino scores wonder goal in training

The Argentina manager is working closely with players who didn't travel for the international break as he prepares his team for the visit of Arsenal after the break.

He has been praised for his man-management and hands-on approach to coaching, and he displayed this by joining the goalkeeper trainers to train the shot-stoppers.

As seen in a video shared by Chelsea on social media, Pochettino took shooting drills against goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. His first attempt was saved, but his follow-up was a screamer, leaving the keeper helpless.

The former Tottenham boss was a former professional and played as a centre-back. He spent most of his playing career at Espanyol, had stints with Paris Saint-Germain, and won 20 caps for Argentina.

The former Brighton goalkeeper has grown into his number-one role at Chelsea, keeping three clean sheets so far this season and was nominated for save of the month.

Pochettino pinpoints Chelsea's problem

Sports Brief reported that Pochettino pinpointed Chelsea's problem after Villa's defeat, indirectly calling out misfiring striker Nicolas Jackson, who has picked up more cards than goals.

Jackson received his fifth booking of the season in the sixth game, having scored just one goal. It's baffling for the manager who rued their lack of cutting edge in the final third as the reason for their downfall.
