  • Brazil's perfect start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series ended last night
  • Gabriel Magalhaes scored his first goal but the visitors responded late in the game
  • Neymar assisted Magalhaes but was pelted with popcorn by fans after their draw

Brazilian fans are displeased they could only get a draw at home against Venezuela and vented their anger on Neymar, despite the attacker assisting the team's only goal.

The Samba Boys came into the qualifier with a perfect record, having won their opening two games: an emphatic 5-1 win over Bolivia and a 1-0 away win at Peru.

Brazil could only secure a point against Venezuela this time around with Arsenal defender, Gabriel Magalhaes scoring his first goal for his country from a Neymar assist five minutes into the second half.

The visitors responded in the 85th minute through Eduard Bello, late enough to hold their hosts to a 1-1 draw, much to the dissatisfaction of the fans.

Brazil fans pelt Neymar with popcorn

Brazilian fans at the Arena Pantanal wanted nothing less than all three points against their opponents and the draw must have felt like a loss, judging by their reactions afterwards.

As picked up by TNT Sports Brazil cameras, as Neymar was making his way into the tunnel after the game, he was pelted with popcorn and what appeared to be a paper carton.

The Al-Hilal star was furious and wanted to have a go at the fan but was immediately pulled away by his teammates, while other fans made his celebration gesture to appease him.

Fans may not appreciate his performance but as spotted by BR Football, Gabriel thanked the former Paris Saint-Germain star for assisting his first goal for his country.

As per The Daily Star, Brazil's draw means Argentina are the only 'perfect' team left in the CONMEBOL qualifying series for the 2026 World Cup after beating Paraguay 1-0 at home.

Pele pays tribute to Neymar

Sports Brief also reported on Pele paying tribute to Neymar after he surpassed the late legend's 77 goals to become Brazil's all-time top scorer with his brace versus Bolivia.

The social media account of the football icon, managed by his children after his passing last year, sent a message to the former Barcelona star to commemorate his new milestone.
