Pirates dominated the iDiskiTimes MTN8 team of the tournament with five players making the list, while Sundowns are second with three players.

Kaizer Chiefs were not left behind as they contributed two players, while Stellenbosch FC were represented with just one player.

Chaine was chosen in goal after his heroic performance in the final, with his teammate Xoki partnering Masandawana star Rivaldo Coetzee in the heart of the defence.

Stellenbosch defender Fawaaz Basadien and Sundowns' Khuliso Mudau were preferred in the wing back positions.

Kaizer Chiefs' duo of Castillo and Du Preez also made the list, with top assister of the tournament Patrick Maswanganyi preferred on the wings.

Thabang Monare was placed in the midfield alongside Castillo, with MTN8 Golden Boot winner Zakhele Lepasa paired with Peter Shalulile upfront.

Nigeria international, Olisa Ndah, failed to make the team of the tournament due to being absent for most of the season due to injury but featured in the final and produced a decent performance.

Mokwena reacts to Sundowns' loss to Pirates

Sports Brief earlier reported that Mokwena has reacted to his Sundowns' loss to rivals Orlando Pirates in an epic MTN8 final on Saturday, October 7.

Mokwena watched from the sidelines as his side missed several chances during the encounter, as it was eventually decided via a penalty shootout.

His side was denied two penalties during the game as Pirates defender Bandile Shandu seemed to have handled the ball in the danger area in the second half, but the match official waved play on.
