Four past and present African footballers will assist in completing the draws later today.

CAF confirmed on their official page on X (formerly Twitter) that the quartet of Achraf Hakimi, Didier Drogba, John Mikel Obi, and Sadio Mane will be called on for the final draw, according to Complete Sports.

AFCON 2023 draw assistants

Mane was part of the Senegal squad that won the last AFCON title in Cameroon after defeating Egypt in the final. The Al-Nassr winger would be hoping to lead the Teranga Lions to victory in Ivory Coast next year.

Hakimi is yet to win the title but had a blistering run with Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with the Atlas Lions reaching the semi-finals. The Paris Saint-Germain star is one of the best defenders in the world and would hope to win AFCON to add to his nation's success.

Chelsea legends, Drogba and Mikel will join these two active players on the podium to assist in the draw. Both players have had a mixed fortune in the history of the tournament, with Mikel winning the title with Nigeria in 2013, while Drogba missed out twice after losing in the 2006 and 2012 finals.

AFCON 2023 draw set to hold

Senegal goes into the tournament as the defending champions while Nigeria, Morocco, and Cameroon are among the 24 teams fighting for the prestigious title.
