  • Jude Bellingham rejected a move to Manchester City in the summer
  • The Englishman's father held talks with the Premier League champions
  • Bellingham has scored 10 goals in his first 10 appearances for Real Madrid

Jude Bellingham could have been a Manchester City player going by his father's wishes, but the 20-year-old midfielder favoured a move to Real Madrid instead.

The Englishman's father held talks with the Premier League champions and even gave them hope of signing the midfielder, who was up for a mega-transfer with Borussia Dortmund eager to cash in.

According to Sportskeeda, Jose Manuel Otero, a member of the Real Madrid board of directors, has claimed that Jude Bellingham rejected Manchester City's advancements and opted for Real Madrid.

"People from Manchester City came to eat and told us that they had been talking to Bellingham. They said that the father had entertained them a little by giving them hope, but Jude said no, he wanted to play for Real Madrid.
“That is happening with many players. When the prospect of signing for Real Madrid opens up to them, they forget everything else. Madrid is the best way to achieve glory."

Real Madrid paid a whopping €103 million to sign Bellingham, and he has started his career at the Santiago Bernabeu in good form, scoring 10 goals in as many matches.

Bellingham backed for Ballon d’Or glory

Meanwhile, former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes Jude Bellingham's individual qualities stand him out from other great midfielders from the past and considers him to win the Ballon d’Or in the future, Eurosport reports.

Bellingham has had a remarkable start to his Real Madrid career, scoring ten goals in his first ten appearances for the club and equalling Cristiano Ronaldo’s record.

Scholes feels that no other player can match Bellingham’s progress at such a young age and that the sky is the limit for what Real Madrid midfielder can achieve as he has no weaknesses.

Bellingham breaks another Ronaldo record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Jude Bellingham continues to defy expectations at Real Madrid following his incredible performance against Osasuna on Saturday, October 7.

The Englishman scored twice to help Madrid cement their place on top of La Liga with a comfortable 4-0 win at home.

By scoring a brace, Bellingham has now scored eight La Liga games in his first eight appearances. Madrid icon Ronaldo scored seven goals in his first eight La Liga games back in 2009.
