Legendary football coach, Shlomo Scharf has lost his granddaughter, Mai Naim to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
It was reported Naim, who was said to be 22 and was declared 'wanted' on Saturday, has been confirmed killed in the ongoing crisis.
Further reports have it she attended the Supernova Festival held annually in the Negev desert in southern Israel on that fateful day.
At the annual music event, hundreds of people lost their lives following the attack by Hamas.
Bulgarian Posten reports that the family had learned that Naim managed to escape from the tragic scene and had sought refuge in the Be'eri kibbutz (communal settlement).
Her whereabouts remained unknown until her body, along with hundreds of others, were identified on Wednesday morning.
The Israeli army is said to have officially informed the family about the tragedy.
The brutal conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in a rising number of casualties. As of Thursday, per CNN, the death toll on each side has exceeded 1,200.
Who is Shlomo Scharf?
Shlomo Scharf is a famous football manager in Israel, having managed the national team from 1992 to 1999.
He led the country to a memorable 3-2 victory over France in Paris just before the 'Parc des Princes Miracle' that saw Bulgaria qualify for the 1994 World Cup in the USA.
The former footballer has also managed several top clubs, including Bnei Yehuda, Maccabi Haifa, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Hapoel Be'er Sheva.
