Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has showered praise on summer acquisition Arda Guler, referring to the young talent as a once-in-a-generation player.
Guler, often compared to Lionel Messi due to his shared characteristics with the renowned Argentine, completed a €20 million move to Madrid from Fenerbahce this summer amid interest from top European clubs, including Barcelona.
Unfortunately, the 18-year-old has been unable to exhibit his skills at the Santiago Bernabeu due to a meniscus injury sustained in pre-season, necessitating surgery.
As reported by GOAL, the rising star has returned to first-team training with Los Blancos and is closing in on his return after enduring multiple injury setbacks.
The report also disclosed that Arda was training separately from the main group prior to the international break as he worked on his physical conditioning in preparation for his comeback.
Despite Guler's absence, Modric, a stalwart at Madrid since his arrival in 2012, commended the young player.
"Arda Guler is a great guy, a special talent," the veteran Croat said per Madrid Zone.
"He has not been able to show his talents yet due to his unfortunate injury, but he has a great future ahead of him. He’s the future."
