Former Senegal forward, Demba Ba has opened up on Eden Hazard's kind gesture towards him during a charity event he held back in 2015, following the retirement of the Belgian forward.

Ba and Hazard played together at Chelsea during the 2013/14 season, where both players played vital roles for the London club in that successful campaign.

However, the Senegalese star left after just one season at Stamford Bridge with the ex-Real Madrid winger going on to become a legend at the Blues.

In paying tribute to Hazard, the former Newcastle United forward disclosed how the 32-year-old was the first to arrive at his event and the last to leave just to ensure the programme was successful.

He wrote on social media:

"Me and my boy we go way back. Back in 2015, [I] organised a charity dinner and this man came with me at [the] event before everyone arrived and left after everyone was gone. Showing me the [utmost] support before driving me back [to] my hotel in the middle of the night. This is more than football! Hazard is a man of great value. Welcome to your new club. Retirement is marvellous."

Hazard announced his retirement on Tuesday, October 10 after departing Real Madrid as a free agent and being seemingly unable to find a new club, as reported by the BBC.

When Eto'o compared Hazard to Lionel Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Cameroon legend, Samuel Eto'o once comparing Hazard to Lionel Messi after his move from Chelsea to Real Madrid.

This week, the former Belgian international announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 32 following a torrid spell at the Spanish giants.

Eto'o and Hazard played together at Chelsea in the 2013/14 season, where the winger led the club to the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.

Hazard announces retirement from football

Sports Brief also reported on Hazard announcing his retirement from football, hanging up his boots at the age of 32.

The Belgian had a challenging four-year spell in Spain following his record-breaking transfer from Chelsea in 2019.

Hazard was clubless since leaving Real Madrid in the summer and announced his retirement in a post on Instagram.
