  • The race for the Bundesliga Golden Boot is heating up after seven games
  • Guinean Serhou Guirassy has exceeded scoring expectations this season
  • Sports Brief looks at the top scorers in the Bundesliga after matchday 5

We're seven games in and the Bundesliga has delivered. Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart have started well, while giants, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have done okay.

While the battle for the top spot is intriguing, the battle of the Golden Boot is heating up with favourite, Harry Kane up there along with a few surprises in the goal-scoring charts after seven games.

Kane joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and was tipped to win the Golden Boot, but he is facing some tough competition from other strikers.

Guinean Serhou Guirassy, who moved to VfB Stuttgart in July, is having a dream start to the season, just like Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface.

Kane won three Premier League Golden Boots, so he has more pedigree compared to his other competitors.

2023/24 Bundesliga top scorers

Stuttgart's Guirassy is enjoying a phenomenal start to the 2023/24 Bundesliga season and leads the goal-scoring charts with 13 goals.

He has scored two hat-tricks and three braces, having scored in all but one game this season, which is astonishing.

After his hat-trick against Wolfsburg on October 7, he surpassed Robert Lewandowski for the most goals after the first seven games of the season.

Lewandowski (2019), Gerd Muller (1968), and Christian Muller (1964) all needed nine matches to score 13 goals.

It's only been seven games, but the race for the Golden Boot is shaping up nicely. If all these stars stay injury-free, we could be in for an exciting race for the Golden Boot.

Kane will be looking to win his fourth career Golden Boot but will have to keep up with the in-form Guirassy. Lewandowski holds the record for the most goals in a single season with 41 (2020/21).

2023/24 Bundesliga table

Interestingly, the top three players in the goalscoring chart play for the top three teams in the Bundesliga after seven games.

Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen are top of the table with 19 points. They have won six of their seven games and drawn just once, a 2-2 draw with reigning champions, Bayern.

Guirassy's 13 goals have helped Stuttgart to second spot with 18 points. The Guinean has scored over half of their goals this season.

Meanwhile, defending champions Bayern Munich are third with 17 points, with five wins and two draws. Their bitter rivals, Borussia Dortmund, are fourth with 17 points.

Thomas Tuchel's side will be looking to win their 12th straight Bundesliga title this season, per Transfermarkt. The last team to win the league prior was Dortmund in 2011/12.

Guirassy outscoring Haaland, Mbappe, Kane

Sports Brief earlier reported on Guirassy outscoring some top European strikers in the first few games of the season.

Manchester City's Erling Haaland has eight, Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski has five, while Kylian Mbappe has seven.

If Guirassy continues with this form for his team in the Bundesliga, the Guinean rising star could be on to something special.
