FootballOlivier Giroud: Mike Maignan Congratulates AC Milan Star After Goalkeeping Heroics
- Mike Maignan took time to appreciate Olivier Giroud after his short stint in goal
- Giroud was forced to wear the gloves against Genoa after Maignan was sent off
- He made a decent save as Milan picked up three points to top the Serie A table
AC Milan goalkeeper, Mike Maignan has shown his appreciation to Olivier Giroud after his heroics secured three precious points for the Serie A giants on October 7.
Giroud was forced to step in as a goalkeeper late in the game against Genoa after Maignan was sent off. The French custodian rammed into Caleb Ekuban knee-first, getting a direct red card for the challenge.
With Stefano Pioli having used all his substitutes, Giroud wore Maignan's jersey in stoppage time and was tasked with securing AC Milan's slender lead.
Former Chelsea star, Christian Pulisic had scored the only goal of the game in the 87th minute.
Mike Maignan's message to Giroud
Giroud made an unconventional double save from George Puscas in the dying minutes of the game, much to the delight of those around him, including Maignan himself.
The goalkeeper reshared a picture of Giroud celebrating with his jersey alongside Theo Hernandez after the game:
"My mother, you made me cry. LETS GOOO."
Maignan is now set to miss at least three games for the Rossoneri after the international break, the key of which will be against title rivals, Juventus and defending champions, Napoli.
AC Milan are currently on top of the standings with 21 points, two ahead of cross-city rivals, Inter Milan and will fancy their chances.
Kane trolled after Giroud's heroics
Sports Brief also reported on fans trolling Harry Kane for his fumble after Giroud heroically saved his team's lead against Genoa earlier this week.
The ex-Tottenham Hotspurs star had a keeping cameo in 2014 during their Europa League win over Asteras Tripolis, after Hugo Lloris was sent off.
Fans have now dug up the almost 10-year-old video to make fun of Kane after Giroud pulled off some heroics in goal for AC Milan at the weekend.
