  • Jadon Sancho has been frozen out of Manchester United’s first team since September
  • The striker had a public spat with Erik Ten Hag, who has consequently left the player out of the squad
  • Ex-Chelsea star Mikel Obi stated that the tactician practically threw the player under the bus

Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi has berated Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag over the situation of Jadon Sancho at the Old Trafford club.

Sancho has been frozen out of United’s first team since his public spat with the Dutch boss in September.

The forward was omitted from the team that faced Arsenal last month, with the manager claiming the 23-year-old had been poor in training.

According to Mirror, Sancho took to social media to respond, claiming he was being made a 'scapegoat' for the club's struggles.

The former Dortmund star was left out of their game against Brentford on Saturday, October 7, with Scott McTominay scoring twice in stoppage time to win it for his side 2-1.

Speaking on Sancho’s situation, Mikel Obi disclosed that the manager threw the England international under the bus.

He told Obione Podcast:

“I’m not sitting here trying to defend Jadon, but if anything, I think the manager has come out and thrown him under the bus.
“There’s been a few bad results, the team is not playing well you know the manager thought I’m going to find a scapegoat which a little bit what kind of Jadon Sancho felt.
“I don’t know how this is going to go, but I hope they find a way to resolve it because he is a top player, he needs to play; he’s young, 23, he hasn’t even reached his peak; still far away from that.
“But I hope he finds a way to resolve it and get him back on the pitch but if not, he (Sancho) has to move on.”

Sancho set for Manchester United exit

Sports Brief earlier reported that there is every chance that Jadon Sancho could depart Old Trafford during the upcoming transfer window.

This is according to Sky Sports Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg, who has claimed that Sancho could leave on loan.

A reunion with Dortmund has been described as 'very unlikely', with the Man United star understood to be keen on playing regularly.
