FootballDavid De Gea: What Former Man United Goalie Was Upto as Red Devils Played Brentford
- David de Gea shared an interesting post on his Instagram stories on Saturday, October 7
- The former Manchester United goalkeeper remains a free agent after leaving the club in June
- His latest social media post came just as United were preparing to take on Brentford at Old Trafford
David de Gea recently took to social media to share an image playing video games amid United’s battles in the Premier League.
The Spaniard is yet to find a new club after leaving Manchester United upon expiry of his contract at the end of last season.
He was replaced by Andre Onana, whose start at Old Trafford has been a miserable one.
The latest twist in Onana’s woes happened during the Brentford game, as the Cameroon international conceded a fairly tame goal after Mathias Jensen’s shot crept under him in the first half.
Incidentally, as United were battling Brentford at Old Trafford, De Gea took to social media to update fans on his endeavours.
It seems the Spaniard is not keen on following proceedings of his former club, as he shared a photo of him playing the popular video game ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare”.
Along with a photo of his gameplay, De Gea added the caption: “Perfect timing”.
Part of the reason De Gea did not watch United’s game could be because the Premier League clash was not televised live in the UK.
Cynics could however argue that De Gea was aiming a subtle dig at his former employers based on the timing of his post.
Meanwhile, as BBC reported, United came from behind to claim a crucial win over Brentford.
It took two late goals from Scot McTominay, including a 96th minute winner, to turn the game on its head.

FootballHarry Maguire produces assist
Sports Brief also reported on Harry Maguire’s assist as United claimed a 2-1 win over Brentford.
The former captain started in defence and was paired by veteran defender Jonny Evans as United's defence was rocked by injuries, much to fans' displeasure.
The England defender did his bits defensively and popped up with a game-winning assist for the Scottish midfielder. He flicked Bruno Fernandes's last-ditch freekick onto the head of Tominay, who headed home for the winner.
