- Fans of the Ligue 1 club have sent a touching message to the Portuguese defender
Paris Saint-Germain continues to grapple with a growing list of injuries as the new football season unfolds at a relentless pace.
The team’s woes began with the devastating head injury suffered by goalkeeper Sergio Rico, and they were compounded by setbacks to Presnel Kimpembe and Marco Asensio.
Club coach Luis Enrique who faces an uphill battle in his pursuit of championship glory, was left displeased by the latest update, which was further confirmed by Sports Mole, which revealed that defender Nuno Mendes is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to persistent hamstring issues.
The 21-year-old defender, who joined the Parisian outfit from Sporting CP in the summer of 2021, had been a shining light during a gloomy season under the stewardship of former manager Christoph Galtier.
After reports of Mendes’ lengthy injury were confirmed, fans of the club took time to send a heartfelt message to the young Portuguese, who was left emotional at the flurry of love meted to his situation.
Fans send emotional messages to Mendes
In a heartwarming video shared by PSG Report on social media, numerous messages from fans were displayed for the young Portuguese defender.
In response, Nuno Mendes expressed his gratitude, saying,
“I really love the PSG fans. They have done everything for me, they have sang my name, they have done everything. Of course, I’m going to work hard to return stronger.”
Mendes has recently returned to Paris after undergoing surgery in Finland last week. Unfortunately, he is not expected to make a return to action until February.
Mbappe leaves the pitch early
Meanwhile, a disappointed Kylian Mbappe left the pitch shortly after PSG’s crushing UEFA Champions League 4-1 defeat at the hands of Premier League club Newcastle United earlier this week.
As Sports Brief reported, a look at the game showed the marquee forward was largely an isolated figure for most of the game, as the Magpies did well to subdue him.
