Arsenal have an uphill task in their next Premier League game as they welcome Manchester City to the Emirates on Sunday.

It is still early days in the Premier League, but the standings after seven games has offered some perspective on who are the teams to beat.

Just like last season, Arsenal are in the mix, as they are only one of two clubs who are still unbeaten in the league alongside their North London rivals Tottenham.

Manchester City and Liverpool tasted defeat for the first time over the weekend, losing to Wolverhampton and Tottenham respectively.

As cited on SoccerPunter.com, the Gunners have won just 14 out of their last 47 games against the Citizens.

Going further back in time, the last time the Gunners collected all three points against Manchester City was more than seven years ago, in December 2015, when the club was still under the guidance of Arsene Wenger.

When Arsenal beat Man City

The date was December 21, 2015, and Leicester City, fresh off a relegation battle the previous season, were mounting a genuine title challenge after 17 games.

Arsenal came up against City at the Emirates with both sides looking to close in on The Foxes.

Theo Walcott opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a neat strike from 20 yards, and Olivier Giroud made it 2-0 with an angled finish in first-half stoppage time, as cited on BBC.

Late in the game, Yaya Toure produced a clever shot to half the deficit and set up a nervy finale, but Arsenal held their own for a victory that took them to within two points of Leicester City in first place.

Leicester went on to win a historic title at the end of the season, with Arsenal finishing in second place. Manchester City ended up in fourth in what proved to be Manuel Pelligrini’s last season in charge of the club.

Tottenham want 2019 UCL replayed

Sports Brief also reported on a cheeky request from a section of Tottenham fans.

The incredible demand comes amid calls from some quarters for the two English teams to have a rematch of their Premier League clash from last Saturday.

The match was riddled with VAR controversy that saw the Reds mistakenly denied a goal in the first half.
