Tottenham Hotspur fans are demanding a replay of the 2019 Champions League final when they played Liverpool.

The incredible demand comes amid calls from some quarters for the two English teams to have a rematch of their Premier League clash from last Saturday.

The match was riddled with VAR controversy that saw the Reds mistakenly denied a goal in the first half.

Luis Diaz appeared to have handed Liverpool the lead in the early exchanges of the encounter, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside.

However, it later emerged that this was an incorrect call, with the revelation sparking anger from the Liverpool camp.

talkSPORT reports that Jurgen Klopp has since come out calling for a replay of the match, which ended in a 2-1 win for Tottenham.

Spurs fans demand for rematch of UCL final

A section of Tottenham fans has now come out to remind Liverpool that they once benefited from a similar refereeing decision during their 2019 Champions League final clash in Spain.

Daily Star reports that at the time, Liverpool won a penalty inside the first minute of the tie after Mohamed Salah's shot hit Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko between the chest and the armpit.

The Reds went on to win the match 2-0 to be crowned European Champions.

That incident has seen some cheeky fans take to social media to demand a replay of the fixture.

@JacoCats posted:

"Perfect scenario for Tottenham:
"•We’ll replay the game 9v11 against Liverpool and we’ll beat them by a bigger margin, goal difference will be much better.
"•We’ll also replay the UCL final, 11v11 for 90 minutes.
"I’ll take that."

@thfcsmiso reckoned:

"If we ever replay the game, anything other than a 9-2 thrashing would be a disappointment IMO."

@scottjay01 added.

"IF we can have Kane and Dele for The UCL game fine."

@Alissonation joked:

"Good luck getting lloris, vertonghen, danny rose, eriksen, sissoko and deli alli to beat liverpool team in UCL final replay."

Klopp wants Tottenham clash replayed

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Jurgen Klopp has demanded to have Liverpool's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur replayed following the controversy that marked the tie.

The refereeing body released audio from the VAR decision earlier in the week, with the clip painting a picture of how the refereeing blunder occurred.

Klopp has now asked for a replay of the fixture in the wake of PGMOL's admission to error and the release of the clip.
