- Kylian Mbappe was disappointed after the game and went straight down the tunnel
- However, he fulfilled the dream of Kieran Trippier's son by handing him his shirt
Kylian Mbappe will be disappointed on the flight back to France after last night's defeat in the UEFA Champions League, while a young fan will go home joyously.
Paris Saint-Germain were hammered 4-1 in their second group game of the Champions League in embarrassing fashion by Newcastle United, who are returning to the competition after 20 years.
Newcastle went into halftime 2-0 up after Miguel Almiron and Dan Burn scored. The Magpies added two more after the break, one each from Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar on either side of Lucas Hernandez's consolation goal.
According to Squawka, it was the heaviest group-stage defeat for the Parisians since they lost 3-0 to Chelsea in 2004. AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund played out a goalless draw in the other group game as the English club topped Group F, the so-called 'Group of Death'.
Trippier's son gets Mbappe's shirt
The game did not go well for the France international, and he was the first PSG player to head down the tunnel after the game.
However, the disappointment did not stop him from fulfilling Newcastle United captain Kieran Trippier's son Jacob's dream by handing him his shirt after the game. The little boy was overjoyed, as seen in a video by CBS Sports Golazo.
Trippier spoke of his son's obsession with Mbappe during the pre-match conference and disclosed that he told him he'd walk out of the tunnel with the French star instead of his father.
Carragher hails Messi as GOAT despite insult on Instagram
Football“I was having a bit of banter with him last night, and he said he wanted to walk out with Mbappe instead of me - I wasn’t really happy with that! He’s obsessed with him, always watching his clips on YouTube. I said, ‘If you get to walk out with Mbappe, you don’t look at me in the tunnel!’” Trippier told Sky Sports before the game.
Mbappe snubs fans
Sports Brief also reported that Mbappe snubbed fans after the Newcastle defeat and headed straight down the tunnel as his teammates applauded the fans at the away end.
The France international had a night to forget at St James' Park, with social media erupting regarding his 'disaster class', while many questioned why he did not seek to move away from the club.
