FootballMario Balotelli Opens Up on the Only Reason He Can ‘Betray’ His Old Team To Sign for PSG
- Mario Balotelli has discussed a potential move to PSG
- The enigmatic Italian forward is willing to 'betray' his former club in favour of the Parisians under one condition
- He currently plays for Turkish side Adana Demirspor
Mario Balotelli has discussed the possibility of playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) despite having previously represented their fierce rivals, Olympique Marseille, during his nomadic career.
A decade ago, the Italian striker seemed poised to become a footballing superstar, but his career took a different path, eventually leading him to over 10 clubs, as he journeyed across three of Europe's top five leagues.
The 33-year-old made a return to Turkish side Adana Demirspor after a stint with Swiss club FC Sion ended on a sour note.
According to Football Italia, during his second debut for Adana on October 1, Super Mario scored twice in their 4-0 victory in the Turkish Super Lig.
Would Balotelli join PSG?
Given PSG's struggles in front of goal this season, despite having talented forwards like Kylian Mbappe, Randal Kolo Muani, Goncalo Ramos, and Ousmane Dembele on their roster, Balotelli was asked if he would consider joining PSG if they showed interest.
His response indicated a sense of appreciation for the Marseille-PSG rivalry, which he briefly experienced during his time with the blue-and-white half of the Le Classique rivalry.
“What if PSG call me? No chance. No way — as I used to play for Marseille and Nice so… no way,” he told TvPlay, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano on the X App.
Nonetheless, the 2010 Champions League winner stated that he would set aside his loyalty to Marseille if PSG were to offer him a substantial contract.
“What if they come with €10m salary proposal?” “Of course. In that case, I’d accept… for €10m I’d even join my brother’s team and go play there!”
