Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Toby Alderweireld was inconsolable on Wednesday, October 4, after missing the chance to salvage a point for his team in the UEFA Champions League.
Alderweireld, who plays in his native Belgium for his boyhood club, Royal Antwerp, missed from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game as his side suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk.
The home side went two goals up through Arbnor Muja and Michel-Ange Balikwisha.
However, the Ukrainian side showed resilience to get back into the game, as Danylo Sikan and Yaroslav Rakitskyi made it 2-2, with mild questions being asked about the Antwerp defence.
Shakhtar Donetsk then turned the game on its head as Sikan found his second goal - the third for his side - with 14 minutes of regular time to go.
As reported by TalkSport, Antwerp then got the chance to score for a penalty, which was no less than they deserved after a handball in the box in the 97th minute.
Alderweireld stepped up to take it but his effort somehow went wide, to the disbelief of the home fans.
