Nigerians have hit the streets to protest against the treatment Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen got from his club, Napoli.
The former Lille striker was recently trolled by the Italian club after he missed a penalty that could have sealed all three points against Bologna.
The Nigerian striker later put out a statement on his official page on Instagram which absolved the Partenopei, the club fans, and the people of Naples of blame over the video, which was uploaded on TikTok.
Despite the Super Eagles striker's statement, some Nigerians still took to the streets to protest against the way he was being treated by the Italian club.
Osimhen was not the only one the protesters were fighting for, as they were also protesting for other Nigerian athletes in Europe and beyond, who are facing one issue or the other.
The protest was held in Ibadan and was publicised in a live video on TikTok, with a user with the handle @TopStriker100 streaming the protests against the Italian side.
The protesters held a banner with the image of Osimhen and other athletes with inscriptions that read "Say no to racism". Fans chanted "solidarity forever".
The 24-year-old has moved on from the issue and has settled back into Napoli's squad.
He scored in back-to-back games in the Italian Serie A but opted out of being the number one penalty taker in the team.
The Nigerian international featured in Napoli's 3-2 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Tuesday, October 3.
