The troubles of Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki grow with each progressing week.

Amakhosi failed to make it two DSTV Premiership wins in a row when they hosted Eric Tinkler’s Cape Town City at the FNB Stadium.

Chiefs went down 1-0 despite having the bulk of possession and more shots on goal than their opponents.

The result saw City leapfrog Chiefs on the log, who now drop to seventh. The Glamour Boys will not get a chance to improve their tally until October 28, when they travel to high-flying Golden Arrows.

Ntseki spoke at length about Chiefs’ predicament, acknowledging that neither he nor his players were willing to accept their situation. Sowetan Live reported Ntseki as saying:

"No coach and no team will be happy with inconsistent results. We are working very hard with the players to get the rhythm right so that we can build on the confidence. The confidence that will help us score goals when we are playing well.
"It's just unfortunate that today with such a good performance we lost the game. We are professionals, we have to lift our heads and go back to training and prepare the team for the next coming matches."

Ntseki was questioned on his selection policy, especially the absence of a new signing Given Msimango.

The defender had an outstanding season with TS Galaxy, which prompted Amakhosi to bring him to Naturena.

The Chiefs coach elaborated that player rotation was important to preserve the squad’s energy and gradually build confidence. KickOff reported on Ntseki’s full comments on his squad rotation policy.

Kaizer Chiefs fans face ban

Sports Brief reported before the match with Cape Town City that Chiefs fans could be banned from attending matches due to their off-field antics.

Amakhosi supporters have used plastic bottles to express their dissatisfaction with results, and the club pleaded guilty to two disciplinary committee charges on Monday.

The Glamour Boys were fined R200,000 relating to the two separate incidents of misconduct.
